Best Candles for Welcoming a Newborn

There is something special about welcoming a newborn into the family.

The house feels different.

Quieter in some ways.

Fuller in others.

Meals begin arriving from family and friends. Visitors naturally speak a little more softly. Everyone looks for some small way to help while the newest little member of the family settles into the world.

As I write this, I'm looking forward to meeting our third grandson for the very first time.

It reminded me that caring for a new baby isn't only about the baby.

It's also about caring for the parents.

Those first days are beautiful, but they're also tiring. Sleep comes in short stretches. The days begin to blend together. A warm meal, a helping hand, or a peaceful home can make all the difference.

While I wouldn't burn a candle in a baby's room or while the baby is nearby, I do love creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere in the rest of the home while everyone is resting, visiting, or sharing a meal together.

These are the candles I naturally reach for during this season.

Nurture

A new baby reminds us that love is often found in the smallest acts of care.

With notes of freesia, fig, and patchouli, Nurture feels gentle, comforting, and quietly beautiful.

It's the candle I would light in the living room after visitors have gone home or during those quiet moments while everyone else is resting.

Nourish

One thing our family has always done during life's biggest moments is gather around food.

When a new baby arrives, meals become one of the simplest ways we can care for one another.

Nourish, with notes of pineapple, mango, and coconut milk, brings warmth to the kitchen while meals are prepared, shared, and enjoyed together.

Restore

The days after welcoming a newborn are often filled with joy, but they're also filled with exhaustion.

Restore, with notes of lavender, vanilla, and tonka bean, creates a peaceful atmosphere for the quiet moments when parents finally have a chance to sit down, take a deep breath, and simply rest.

A Gentle Reminder

One of the greatest gifts we can give new parents isn't another item for the nursery.

It's our presence.

A meal dropped off at the door.

An afternoon spent helping around the house.

An hour so they can take a nap.

A listening ear.

The little things often become the things they remember most.

And perhaps that's what welcoming a newborn is really about.

Not only celebrating new life...

But surrounding that little life with love, care, and a home that already feels full of both.
